도화김소영 2017년 개인전 : 화색

Artist's Note

Kim So-young's third solo exhibition is a space where our lives, like flowers, are expressed through the colors of light. The artist enjoys telling stories through vibrant colors, and in this exhibition, she captures a variety of colors and emotions through her signature design, "Universe Stars."

In particular, displaying her mother's traditional folk painting (minhwa) and her father's oil paintings alongside her own works offers a deeply meaningful experience. It is a special opportunity to showcase how the love and artistic influences of her family are reflected in her artwork.

Additionally, ceramic pieces inspired by her third Santiago pilgrimage and watercolor paintings created along the journey are also featured in the exhibition, adding richness to the story. This exhibition goes beyond a simple showcase of ceramics, creating a special space where visitors can experience the artist's life and journey firsthand.

Kim So-young began working with ceramics again through her piece "Ceramic Carnation" and has since created a wide range of works, including "Cosmic Stars," "Santiago," "Flowers," "Pets," and collaborative pieces with traditional folk art, breaking the conventional boundaries of ceramics and presenting new possibilities.

김소영 작가의 세번째 개인전은 꽃과 같은 우리의 인생을 빛의 색으로 표현한 자리입니다. 작가는 평소 다채로운 색채를 통해 이야기를 나누는 것을 좋아하며, 이번 전시에서도 그의 메인 디자인인 '우주별'을 통해 다양한 색상과 감정을 담아냅니다.

특히, 어머니의 민화 작품과 아버지의 유화 작품을 함께 전시하는 것은 작가에게 더욱 뜻깊은 경험입니다. 이는 가족의 사랑과 예술적 영향이 작가의 작품에 어떻게 반영되어 있는지 보여주는 특별한 기회입니다.

또한, 이번 여름 세 번째 산티아고 순례길을 다녀온 경험을 담은 도자기 작품들과 길 위에서 그린 수채화 작품들도 함께 전시되어 더욱 풍성한 이야기가 펼쳐집니다. 이는 단순한 도자기 전시를 넘어 작가의 삶과 여정을 직접 경험할 수 있는 특별한 공간입니다.

김소영 작가는 도자기 작업을 다시 시작하게 해준 '도자기 카네이션'부터 '우주별', '산티아고', '꽃', '반려동물' 작품, 그리고 민화와의 콜라보레이션 작품까지 다양한 작업들을 통해 도자기의 고정관념을 깨고 새로운 가능성을 제시합니다.

이번 전시는 김소영 작가의 따뜻한 감성과 섬세한 표현력, 그리고 끊임없는 도전 정신을 느낄 수 있는 특별한 경험이 될 것입니다.

While walking the Camino de Santiago, we carried my pilgrim's passport, collecting stamps from the albergues and restaurants where westayed. These stamps are necessary when receiving the certificate upon completing the pilgrimage, as they serve to verify where we stayed along the route. To remember the places we stayed, I decided to paint the stamps onto ceramics and create frames as a keepsake.

산티아고 순례길을 걷는 동안 순례자 여권을 가지고 다니며, 내가 머무는 알베르게와 레스토랑 등에서 도장을 받게 됩니다. 이 도장은 순례길을 완주한 후 증명서를 받을 때 필요하며, 내가 어디에서 묵었는지를 인증하는 역할을 합니다. 나는 그동안 묵었던 곳들을 기억하기 위해 도자기 위에 도장을 그려 넣어 액자를 만들었습니다.
