도화 김소영 작가 작가 노트 Artist's Note by Dohwa Kim So-young

Artist Note

We are stars in the vast universe.The 100 billion stars, like our Sun, each emit their own unique light within the galaxy. Similarly, the precious lives born on Earth shine with their own individual light. The artist began capturing the universe and stars in ceramic forms, which are eternal and unchanging. Just as the stars exist with distinct lights, the artist hopes for each person to find their unique value and shine brightly in their own life. This intention continues through the Cosmic Star series.

Since 2011, the artist has walked the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage nine times. The wisdom and insights gained along the journey are embedded within the works. The moments when things did not go as planned, the experiences of losing and then finding the way, all find their way into the art.

About Dohwa, Kim So-young

Graduated in 2010 with a major in Ceramic Arts from the Department of Crafts at Sungshin Women’s University. From 2016 to 2024, she has held 10 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions.

작가노트

우리는 거대한 우주 속의 별입니다. 은하계 안에서 태양처럼 스스로 빛을 내는 1000억 개의 별들은, 지구 안에서 소중한 생명으로 태어나 각자 서로 다른 빛을 발하며 살아가는 우리들의 모습과 닮아있습니다. 작가는 영원히 변하지 않는 도자기에 우주와 별을 담기 시작했습니다. 그리고 서로 다른 빛을 내며 존재하는 별들처럼, 각자가 자신의 인생 속에 서 고유한 가치를 찾아 빛나기를 바라는 마음으로, 우주별 작업을 이어가고 있습니다.

2011년 이후 산티아고 순례길을 아홉 번이나 걸으며 길 위에서 깨달은 삶의 본질을 작품 에 담아냈습니다. 계획대로 흘러가지 않는 순간들과 그 과정에서 길을 잃고 다시 찾은 경 험들이 작업 속에 조용히 스며들어 있습니다. 묵묵히 저의 길을 걸으며 삶의 본질에 다가 가는 과정, 그리고 그 속에서 얻는 깨달음을 작품에 새겼습니다.

작가소개

도화 김소영 (서울 출생, 대한민국) 성신여자대학교 공예과 도예전공 2010년 졸업. 10번의 개인전과 다수의 단체전을 진행했다.
