ARTIST | Dohwa Kim

Dohwa Kim is a ceramic artist whose practice embraces ceramics, painting, and other media in a fluid interplay of form, color, and texture A pivotal moment in her artistic development came with her first pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago. The journey, and the ten that followed, reshaped her perspective and deepened her commitment to a contemplative, process-driven practice. The landscapes, silences, and encounters along the way continue to inform her approach to material and form. Her work reflects an openness to change, and the quiet possibilities found in unexpected turns—values that have guided both her creative process and the life around it. Kim holds a degree in Ceramics, and has been active since 2011, presenting ten solo exhibitions between 2016 and 2024 alongside numerous group shows.

도화 김소영은 도자기, 회화 및 기타 매체를 활용하여 형태, 색상, 질감이 유기적으로 상호작용하는 작품을 창작하는 도예가입니다. 그녀의 예술적 발전에서 중요한 전환점은 첫 번째 산티아고 순례 여행에서 비롯되었습니다. 그 여행과 이후 이어진 11번의 산티아고 순례는 그녀의 시각을 변화시켰고, 성찰적이고 과정 중심의 작업에 대한 몰두가 깊어졌습니다. 순례길에서 마주한 풍경, 침묵, 그리고 사람들과의 만남은 여전히 그녀의 재료와 형태에 대한 접근 방식에 영향을 미칩니다. 그녀의 작업은 변화에 대한 열린 태도와, 예상치 못한 전환 속에서 발견되는 고요한 가능성을 반영합니다. 이러한 가치들은 그녀의 창작 과정은 물론, 그 주변의 삶을 이끌어온 원칙이기도 합니다. 도화 김소영은 성신여자대학교 공예과에서 도예를 전공, 2010년 졸업. 2011년부터 활동을 시작해 2016년부터 2025년까지 11회의 개인전과 여러 차례의 단체전에 참여해왔습니다.
